2026 World Cup: Can the Red Devils move closer to the tournament against North Macedonia?
An international break doesn’t mean a football break on Golden Vegas Sport. Across Europe, Africa, and South America, the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will set the rhythm for the next ten days.
While some nations — such as Japan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Brazil, and Argentina — have already secured their place for the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, the European qualification stage remains wide open after its late start in March.
As you can follow regularly on our blog, much like our weekly coverage of the Jupiler Pro League, all eyes are now on the Red Devils.
No room for mistakes against North Macedonia
With just three matches to go, . On paper, there’s no reason to panic. True, the team currently sits in second place — a position that would mean a tricky playoff spot.
However, Rudi Garcia’s men have one game in hand compared to the rest of the group, due to their decisive Nations League clash against Ukraine, which kept them in Division A.
A victory over the group leaders this Friday would move Courtois and his teammates two points ahead and open the road toward the first-ever 48-team World Cup.
The Red Devils are heavy favourites according to the bookmakers, though we suggest staying tuned during the match to take advantage of evolving live odds that could bring even more excitement to your betting experience.

Witsel’s return for a century-old record
But the team must stay cautious. In Skopje, North Macedonia, four months ago, Belgium could only manage a draw despite an early goal from Maxim De Cuyper. A result that left some frustration behind.
Those doubts were quickly erased with solid wins against Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan last month. Although Rudi Garcia’s recent call-up lists have shown few surprises, one name stands out this October.
Sixteen months after his last appearance, Axel Witsel makes his long-awaited comeback. “Axel has been playing regularly for Girona. He’s versatile, talented, and brings leadership, especially in the absence of Youri and Romelu (Lukaku). It’s great to have him supporting Kevin (De Bruyne), Thibaut (Courtois), and Thomas (Meunier) again,” said the coach.
The midfielder, who made his international debut on March 26, 2008, could break a record that’s stood for more than a century if he plays even a single minute.
That of Hector Goetinck, the Red Devil who holds the record for the longest international career — 6,402 days, from his first cap in 1906 to his last in 1923. Will Witsel celebrate by scoring? Unlikely, but never say never for the 36-year-old from Liège.

Can the Red Devils really do it?
What if we look ahead to July 19 next year? What if Belgium lifted the World Cup?
Whether on our website or in our venues, you can already place your bets on the event.
Sure, it may sound bold — but why not believe? Unlike the North Macedonia match this Friday or Monday’s trip to Wales, Rudi Garcia will be able to rely on Romelu Lukaku’s return.
Add to that a Kevin De Bruyne eager to give everything in his Last Dance and a calmer Courtois than under Domenico Tedesco, and you’ll see why the 40.00 odds might just be the perfect plan to dream big — responsibly.
