Nations League: Who among Spain, France, Germany or Portugal will emerge from the Final Four?
When you think it’s over, it’s not! After the end of the domestic leagues, the Nations League Final Four will keep football fans on the edge of their seats all the way to the Club World Cup.
Just one week after hosting the Champions League final, Munich’s Allianz Arena will set the stage on Wednesday for the clash between Germany and Portugal. The next day, 250 kilometres away, France and Spain will face off in the other semi-final at Stuttgart’s Mercedes-Benz Arena.
All four teams are determined to meet again in the Bavarian capital on Sunday to claim the fourth edition of the Nations League. Can you guess the winner? We break down everything you need to know to bet smart on GoldenVegas Sport.

Germany finally wants to win at home
The 2014 World Cup champion is used to hosting major tournaments — most recently during Euro 2024 just a year ago, and before that at the 2006 World Cup. The problem? Germany has never won a tournament on home soil.
Eliminated by Spain in the quarter-finals 12 months ago, Florian Wirtz and his teammates now only need to win two matches. Julian Nagelsmann’s squad list holds no major surprises, except for the return of Marc-André Ter Stegen after 8 months out due to a patellar tendon injury.
Tom Bischof and Nick Woltemade, breakout stars this season in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim and Stuttgart, have been called up for the first time, while Jamal Musiala had to withdraw due to injury. After eliminating Italy in the previous round, Die Mannschaft comes in with confidence — but they'll need to beat an equally confident Portugal, despite moments of doubt.
Cristiano Ronaldo joins Portugal amid uncertainty
Roberto Martinez’s squad had lost their quarter-final first leg in Denmark (0-1) before turning things around in the return leg, though it took extra time (5-2). While everyone wonders which club he’ll join now that his contract with Al-Nassr has ended, Cristiano Ronaldo is indeed in Martinez’s squad.
Unlike Diego Moreira. The Strasbourg player chose to represent Belgium and our Red Devils rather than the Portuguese side who were also keen on him. Could that make the difference against Germany?

France wants revenge for the Euro
Almost exactly one year after being defeated by Spain in the semi-final of the European Championship, Les Bleus are eager to get their revenge on Lamine Yamal, who had equalized with an extraordinary top-corner strike.
Courted by Algeria and even Italy, Rayan Cherki has finally been called up for the first time by Didier Deschamps. “I’ve never prevented or blocked a player with dual nationality. If I call them up, it’s based on our needs and not to stop them from doing something else,” the coach reminded. “When I select a player who can play for another national team, I do it when I believe we need them.”
The Lyon player, the best assist provider in Ligue 1, could help serve Kylian Mbappé, just as he did all season long with Alexandre Lacazette. “He has the ability to make the difference through dribbling and passing. The idea is for him to keep his creativity and spontaneity while being as natural as possible. The most important thing is what he can do when he has the ball,” added the coach, who will leave the French team after the next 2026 World Cup.
Yamal eyes Ballon d'Or
On the other side, Spain is determined to retain their crown. In June 2023, La Roja overcame Croatia via a penalty shootout. “We want to be the first team to win it twice. We place a lot of importance on this competition,” affirmed head coach Luis de la Fuente. “Our players are insatiable. They want to win, win, and win, as Aragonés used to say. That mindset must never be lost.”
Appointed in the summer of 2022, De la Fuente surprised many with his squad list: Isco is making his return to the national team for the first time since June 2019. Yamal, of course, is included. Would winning this Nations League secure him the Ballon d’Or?
“I don’t know if he’ll win it this year, but I’m sure he’ll win one. We’ll see if it’s this season. What matters most is that he doesn’t focus on that specific goal, that he keeps working hard and stays humble. If he continues like this, he’ll have plenty of chances,” said his coach.
But beating France would be the best way to prove it.
