Verstappen’s comeback

Before the race in Italy, many wondered if the dice were already loaded against his world title hopes. The Dutch Grand Prix seemed to propel Piastri towards his first crown, but since then, everything has changed.

The Red Bull driver is still 44 and 69 points behind his McLaren rivals. Big numbers, but not insurmountable. And the Hasselt-born champion firmly believes since Piastri’s retirement in Azerbaijan.

That allowed him to make up a third of his deficit. "I don’t feed on hope, there are still seven race weekends and 69 points is a lot," Verstappen tempers, while McLaren team principal Andrea Stella also remains calm.

Even the greatest champions sometimes have a weekend like this, where learning is the key. And Oscar, unwillingly, packed many lessons into a single weekend.

But fans keep asking: will he do it? With Verstappen at odds of 6.50, many are tempted to bet on him. Always while playing responsibly.

Pit stop as the X factor of the race?

The outcome of the race may not be decided on the track but in the pits. Will some teams gamble on a one-stop strategy? Or will the double stop be the preferred option to win?

This week, the FIA confirmed that cars are allowed to drive at 80 km/h in the pit lane. This could push teams to instruct their drivers to stop twice.

Heat will also be a decisive factor, as race director Rui Marques explained this Thursday: "Having received an official forecast that the heat index will exceed 31°C at some point during this event, a heat-related risk has been declared."
