Champions League: huge matchups ahead with Marseille for Union, Arsenal for Bruges and Real-City

It’s the small pleasure that helps us get through winter. While the cold and the early darkness at 4 p.m. tend to drain our mood, the Champions League brings us back to life every two weeks.

If the Round of 16 of the Belgian Cup kept us busy last week, the serious things start again this Tuesday. And our Jupiler Pro League clubs are in for a huge challenge, including a fixture worthy of a final.

Naturally, Golden Vegas Sport had to bring you the most important matches you might be interested in. The goal: help you place your bets wisely and try, just like the Belgian teams, to aim for the big win.

An former Champions League winner for union

You might jump to conclusions reading this subtitle. Is Union Saint-Gilloise playing Real, Barcelona, PSG or Manchester City? Not at all. Even though the Belgian champions are indeed facing a former Champions League winner, you have to go back to 1993 to find their triumph in Europe’s most prestigious competition.

Marseille are travelling to Belgium. And Union absolutely need to build on their precious win at Galatasaray (0–1). If they manage to beat OM, Zorgane and his teammates would reach 9 points.

That’s roughly what they need to secure at least a place in the playoffs, with two matches still to come. Although the Olympiens are slight favourites, stay tuned during the match and bet live to take advantage of shifting odds — and your instinct, which we hope will be spot on.

Bruges host the leader

For Club Brugge, things are getting complicated. If the convincing and spectacular draw against Barcelona (3–3) had revived hopes of qualification, everything fell apart at Sporting Lisbon on Matchday 4, where they were swept away.

With 4 points, nothing is lost yet, as Nicky Hayen’s men will face Marseille and then Kairat Almaty. But before that, Arsenal — the current Champions League leader — are coming to Jan Breydel.

You may have noticed it if you checked Brugge’s odds in one of our retail shops or on our website. The 8.50 odds show that it would be a real achievement if our compatriots were to beat the English side. But as you know, in football, nothing is impossible.

City want their revenge

Without disrespecting them, spectators around the world are unlikely to linger on the matches involving our Jupiler Pro League clubs. Most will have their eyes on the clash between Real and Manchester City.

You may have seen it on our blog. Last year, the two European giants met in the playoffs, right after the league phase. And the Spaniards came out on top, winning 6–3 on aggregate.

Pep Guardiola is out for revenge. Especially since the year before, Madrid had also won their quarter-final. Only in the 2022–2023 season did the Citizens eliminate Real Madrid in the semi-finals before claiming the Champions League title. For this huge showdown, Golden Vegas has prepared special promotions that we are about to detail for you.
