Champions League: From Club Brugge to the Madrid derby, the moment of truth for European Clubs this wednesday
Wednesday evening will be filled with high stakes in the Champions League, with suspense at every level.
Will Club Brugge pull off a historic comeback? Who will be crowned the king of Madrid – Real or Atlético? And can LOSC reach the quarter-finals at the expense of Dortmund?
Here’s everything you need to know about Wednesday’s fixtures to have all the insights for betting on our site.
Club Brugge in England for the upset
Last week, Brugge let their chance slip against Aston Villa. Despite conceding an early goal within seconds to former Genk player Bailey, last year’s Jupiler Pro League champions quickly equalized through De Cuyper.
Although they created several chances in the electric atmosphere of the Jan Breydel Stadium, they failed to convert them. In the end, they were punished by the English side, first with an own goal from Mechele and then a late penalty converted by Asensio after a foul by the unfortunate Tzolis.
Trailing by two goals, the task seems daunting—perhaps even impossible—for the Blauw en Zwart. However, they regained some confidence over the weekend by winning the derby against Cercle (1-3), marking their first league victory since February 8. They have already proven against Atalanta in the previous round that they can overcome the odds. A great opportunity to take advantage of their high betting odds.

Madrid awaits its king
It’s not every day that two teams from the same city face off in the Champions League. But in Madrid, it’s nothing new. In fact, Real and Atlético have already met twice in the final of the competition.
In 2014, the Colchoneros believed they had the trophy within reach thanks to a goal from Godín, but Sergio Ramos equalized in stoppage time. Bale, Marcelo, and Cristiano Ronaldo then sealed the victory in extra time.
Two years later, it was Ramos again who opened the scoring, but Belgium’s Carrasco pushed the game into another 30-minute showdown. In the end, a penalty shootout crowned Real Madrid as champions once more.
Last week, La Casa Blanca reaffirmed its dominance over the city with a narrow victory over its neighbor. Will Kylian Mbappé and his teammates maintain their slight advantage, or will Diego Simeone’s men manage to turn things around? With such a balanced matchup, no team can truly be considered the favorite.

Lille for history?
Dortmund has reason to fear its trip to France. This year in the Champions League, Lille has been toppling Europe’s giants. Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid, Diego Simeone’s Atlético, and Thiago Motta’s Juventus have all learned that the hard way. They all fell to Bruno Génésio’s men this season.
In Germany, BVB struck first, but it wasn’t enough. Haraldsson equalized, leaving everything to be decided this Wednesday. The Northerners are counting on their passionate home crowd to erase the trauma of last year. In the Conference League quarter-finals, they were eliminated by Aston Villa on penalties.
This time, the feat would be even more remarkable, in the most prestigious of European competitions. Mentally, the Dogues have the upper hand after a comfortable 1-0 win over Montpellier, Ligue 1’s bottom club, while Dortmund suffered a home defeat to Augsburg.
So, do you believe in LOSC’s first-ever Champions League quarter-final qualification?
